Flip 'n Read: ABC Phonics Set A

 

 

How to Play:

1. Separate out 1 game (by color). Shuffle. 

2. Place cards down. (Go and all other cards picture side up.  Students should say the words as they put the cards down)

3. Turn over Go.

4. Say the phonetic sound of the letter.

5. Match the Letter to the Correct Picture.

6. Turn over the card with the correct picture.

7. Say the phonetic sound of the letter. Match to the correct picture.

8. Continue until YES! (if you reach YES! before ALL cards have been turned over, you have made a mistake. Begin again.)

9. Don’t forget the double check. (look only at the letter and say which word was associated with it in the game.

2. Children recognize and know the sound of ALL lowercase letters.

4. It’s self checking. If students get to YES before all cards are done—there’s been a mistake.

7. Repeat steps #4, 5 and 6.

4. Read the Sentence out loud.
5. Match the Card to the Correct Picture.
6. Turn over the card with the correct picture.
7. Read the sentence. Match to the correct picture.
8. Continue until WELL DONE! (if you reach WELL DONE before ALL cards have been turned over, you have made a mistake. Begin again.)
9. Don’t forget the double check. (look only at the picture and say the full sentence)

1. Separate out 1 game of 8 cards. Shuffle. 

2. Place cards down (word side up)

3. Turn over Let’s Go.

4. Look at the Picture.

5. Read the sentences on the other cards to find the answer.

6. Turn over the card with the correct sentence.

7. Look at the picture. Match to the correct sentence.

8. Continue until WELL DONE! (if you reach WELL DONE before ALL cards have been turned over, you have made a mistake. Begin again.)

9. Don’t forget the double check. (look only at the picture and say the full question and answer (if this is difficult—-students should re - read and THEN look only at the picture and say)
